If your nerves aren’t functioning properly in your upper neck, your concentration can suffer and your control over yourself can also suffer. Hyper-activity can be caused by subluxations in the spine as well. If these subluxations are removed then the body can regulate itself better leading to less hyper-activity as well as increased concentration. Keeping your spine aligned is so important to yoru oerall health and can help your body keep you so much healthier in every way. So get yourself or someone you love checked today. Their health will thank you for it.

Thoughts for Thanksgiving- Gratitude

Posted in Community,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 23, 2011

Gratitude has a cleansing effect on the soul, healing us from the inside out. To say “thank you,” is the act of a spiritual power. The very act of saying a sincere thank you hones our personalities, making us humbler, gentler, and more loving people. When something good happens and we give thanks for it, recognizng it as a blessing, then its positive effect expands within us.

Here are a few ways to reflect on gratitude and give thanks for life:

1. When you wake up offer this prayer- “Thank you for the gift of this day.” Before going to bed, write down five reasons that the day was wonderful.

2. Right now tell three people you are closest to why you are thankful to have them in your life.

3. What five memories are you most grateful for? Write them down. If your memories involve friends and family, call to reminisce.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Have a wonderful and blessed one.

Fever

Posted in Chiropractic,Community,Disease,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 21, 2011

Fever is the body’s natural defense to an illness. Some people think that when someone has a fever to immediately try to bring it down. This is not necessarily the case. The body uses many defenses to try to rid itself of potential threats such as bacteria, viruses, etc. Heat is one of these defenses. By increasing heat your body is trying to destroy the foreign bodies. So if you bring down a fever that isn’t potentially harmful, then you are actually suppressing your body’s own immune system. But if you stay healthy by staying adjusted and keeping the nerve interference out of your nervous system you are going to have a better immune system and you will be able to deal with those bad bacteria or viruses quicker and more efficiently thereby keeping your fevers to a minimum and keeping them down where there is no potential for harm. So stay adjusted and stay healthy this season.

Respiratory Risk linked to Caesarean choice

Posted in Community,Injuries,Pregnancy,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 16, 2011

Babies born to mothers who have an elective Caesarean section are four times more likely to suffer respiratory problems, according to new research published recently. The findings add to the body of evidence concerning the risks linked to the procedure-which continues to rise in popularity in the U.S. It also brings sharp focus the debate between the “too posh to push” lobby- including celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, and Madonna- and those advocating natural childbirth. In 2001, almost 35% of hospital deliveries in the US were by Caesarean section, far above the 10-15% rate recommended by the World Health Organization. The latest figures show that one in 11 births north of the border involves an elective Caesarean section. The latest study found that babies delivered through pre-planned Caesarean sections were 4 times more likely to suffer breathing difficulties compared to those born naturally or by emergency Caesarean section. It also suggests that the earlier in the pregnancy the baby was delivered, the higher risk of problems. The study supports previous research linking elective Caesareans with an increased risk of respiratory difficulties in new-born babies. Dr. Burnett Lunan, a Glasgow-based consultant obstetrician and gynecologist, said: “It’s been known for some time that babies born electively can have problems.”

Studies like this support the idea that it’s time for the pendulum to swing back in favor of natural, healthy childbirth options, practices and trends.

Ear Infections

Ear infections. All too common an ailment for young people and even some adults. They can be caused by bacteria or viruses. And other than growing a culture which can take up to 48 hours you can’t tell which is the culprit. But there is good news. Chiropractic works with your body to help heal the infection no matter which is causing it. Chiropractic boosts the immune system making your body stronger to fight off any infection. Chiropractic also removes interference to the nerves that may be supplying the sinuses as well as the ears with their signals from the brain. Without interference the nerves can communicate better with these parts of the body letting them work the way they should in order to correct the problem and help the body normalize again. This may mean that the ears will drain better or that the sinuses will become less inflammed. Either way your body already knows how to combat an ear infection, chiropractic lets it do this naturally without interference. This not only makes your body stronger, but it keeps you from putting toxins in your body that can cause more harm than good such as drugs and medicines. So give your body a chance to be natural and healthy, try chiropractic for those ear infections.

Tantrums

When a mother was experiencing tantrums with one of her 2 and a half year old twins she took him to the pediatrician. He said it was perfectly normal but at the “extreme” end of the spectrum. His mother wasn’t satisfied. She felt he was uncomfortable in some way. The tantrums would last up to an hour and were as often as five or six a day and many times he would even hurt himself. Sometimes he would even repeat, “help me help me.” What’s worse is his communication skills were regressing and he usually preferred to be alone. He was on a special diet and everything but the behavior was taking its toll on the entire family. The mother finally convinced the father to let her take him to a chiropractor. She had been under care her whole life, but the father was opposed to chiropractic treatment for children. Under steady care the tantrums lessened in intensity immediately. And after five short weeks the results were nothing short of miraculous. The tantrums last maybe 5-10 minutes. And many times Zachary seemed to be fighting for control and would more often than not win! His communication skills were back to normal for his age and he no longer feels the need to isolate himself becoming affectionate again. Although some people may be skeptical and say he just grew out of it, the mother says that the changes were just too quick for that and it coinsided perfectly with his visits to the chiropractor. She states that,”I must admit myself the improvements are more than I expected, but all I could have hoped for.”

Cleaning Your Home Naturally

Posted in Community,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 9, 2011

The cleaner your home is, the unhealthier it may be, because of toxic cleaning products made from petroleum-based chemicals. Many of these commercial cleaning products contain dangerous chemicals that are not listed on the label. A manufacturer can omit an ingredient that is considered a secret formula from its label, and many of these secret ingredients are toxic and carcinogenic. Beware that many cleaning products are now saying they are “Green” or “Eco Friendly,” and are now on the green bandwagon. This is called Green Wash, but make sure you read labels and research all product claims. You can reduce your chemical exposure by eliminating chemicals in your home, and using only natural cleaning products that are plant based. There are many safe cleaning products like Ecover, Mrs. Meyers, Seventh Generation, Sun & Earth, and Orange Plus. Even though they are more expensive, they are more concentrated, and worth it because they are safe. Another alternative is to make your own natural cleaning products. Using homemade natural cleaning products makes “cents” because it is cheaper, healthier and non-toxic, and it is fun. To clean with natural products all you need is:

Baking soda, Vinegar, Borax, Hydrogen peroxide, Liquid castile soap, Organic essential oils (optional), mixing bowls, spray bottles, micro fiber cloths, and vodka(optional).

For ideas on how to use these to clean your house with you can go to or search in the internet for: Jeanne McLaughlin, International Institute for Bau-Biologie and Ecology

And get to cleaning healthy!

Indigestion

Posted in Chiropractic,Community,Disease,Signs and symptoms of nerve interference,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 7, 2011

Do you or anyone you know suffer from indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux? Well did you know that your esophageal muscles that are causing that spasm that gives you that burn in your chest are controlled by nerves. Even more they are controlled by nerves that start in your spinal cord which runs through your spine. When the nerves that go to your esophagus have interference due to subluxations in your spine then those muscles in your esophagus may not work like they are supposed to and these spasms may be the result. By clearing the interference with specific chiropractic adjustments these nerves can start functioning properly and those muscles can start functioning properly as well. If there is no cause for your muscles to spasm then they won’t and the indigestion will stop. So, don’t you owe it to yourself or someone you know who suffers with indigestion to try chiropractic? Your esophagus will thank you.

Change Your Focus for Better Results

Posted in Community,Tips for a better life by tricountychiropractors on November 4, 2011

Spend 60 seconds looking around the room and take note of everything that is red. Any shade of red will do. Crimson, Fire-engine red. Burgandy. Maroon. Even hot pink. Commit as many red things to memory as possible. Don’t overthink the process, or try to figure out the point of the exercise. Don’t write anything down, and use whatever memory or recall method you feel will give you the best results.

Now close your eyes. Wait a minute or two.

Then with your eyes still closed, try to recite a list of everything in the room that’s colored…brown.

Open your eyes, and you’ll instantly see what you hadn’t before: all things brown. As Lifehack reports:

“It’s amazing what becomes apparent when you look at the same thing (room, relationship, career, business, opportunity, person, health) with a totally different focus. What was once invisible becomes immediately apparent. Obvious even. This brief activity is a simple yet effective one. When you have a narrow focus, you don ’t see the entirety of what’s there. The potential. The gifts. The joy. The fun. The good. The opportunity. When you look for the bad, you’ll find it. When you expect rejection, you’ll find that too. If you’re constantly searching for problems, you’ll never see the solutions.”
