Type 2 Diabetes is Curable in Nearly Everyone Without Drugs!!
If one is compliant with these recommendations the likelihood of successfully going off of drugs and having normal blood sugars is close to 100%. Treating type 2 diabetes is simply a matter of implementing some basic strategies to improve your insulin and leptin resistance. First, you must exercise. Without exercise you are very unlikely to get this devastating disease under control. In the beginning though you will need large amounts of exercise maybe even up to one or two hours a day. And you would always want to work your way up to this amount gradually based on your current level of fitness. Next is eliminate grains and sugars. For the last 50 years, many have been following the nutritional recommendations dictated by conventional health agencies, which advise a complex carbohydrate and low saturated fat diet. The end result has been a 700% increase in diabetes in those years. So instead you’ll want to eliminate foods that your body will react to by creating insulin, which includes all types of sugars and grains, even “healthy grains” such as whole organic grains. You may even need to avoid fruits until your blood sugar is under control. Although avioding fruits is typically not necessary. Each individual will need to determine this. These are the 2 basic guidelines that you can follow to beat this devastating disease. And of course, chiropractic care can help you achieve better health along this journey.
Is Your Spine Aligned?
Health…it is a main topic of discussion these days. Many people are taking their own health in their hands and being proactive in keeping or getting their health. But what is true health? Is is defined as a state of “normal function.” And as much as diet and exercise facilitate good health, they do nothing to create function of our bodies. For example: taking a corpse out for a bike ride or giving it vitamin C does nothing to create function for that corpse. Instead it is the anatomy of your body and more specifically your nervous system that causes the body to function. And for your body to function “normally” or optimally the nervous system must work without damage or interference. The most common interference to the nervous system is the subluxation in the spine. Chiropractors specialize in getting rid of the subluxations in the spine. And to be healthy your nervous system must be functioning properly all the time, so get checked by your chiropractor today!
Nutritional Needs
Everyone knows how important nutrition is, after all, we are constantly reminded by our doctors, friends, family, and now more than ever the media. So eat your veggies and fruits right? Well, sometimes its not that easy. Nutrition is so important to a healthy lifestyle, but what about absorbtion of those nutrients once ingested? It is equally important to make sure that our bodies absorb the nutrients we feed them. And it is equally important to make sure that the digestion of our food is complete and we have proper exiting of those foods. So how do you get proper digestion? By making sure your digestive system is working properly all the time. The digestive system, like all other systems is supplied by the nervous system that keeps it functioning. When the nerves that go to the digestive system have pressure on them due to subluxations in the spine, it can affect the digestive system and in turn digestion may not work as well. By making sure that the spine is free of interference, all systems of the body can work properly and proper digestion can occur. So feed your body healthy foods and visit your chiropractor today to make sure you are getting as much out of it as you can.
The Future of Disease Prevention May Not Depend On Your Genes But Upon Ways To Turn Them On and Off
The new field of epigenetics has shown that the choice of which of your genes are “expressed,” or activated, is strongly affected by environmental influences. This means that expression of your genes can change, and they are influenced by external factors. One implication of this is that many health problems-ranging from cancer to cardiovascular disease to neurological disorders-can be caused at least in part by altered “histone modifications,” which affect DNA. According to Eurekalert, “The good news…. is that ‘HDAC inhibitors’ can stop this degenerative process, and some of them have already been identified in common foods. Examples include sulforaphane in broccoli, indole-3-carbinol in cruciferous vegetables, and organosulfur compounds in vegetables like garlic and onions”.
What Is Chiropractic?
Many people are confused about what chiropractic is, because it is not only a technology, science and an art, but also a way of thinking. With today’s health care problems at their peak, chiropractors are willing to think outside the realm of common thought so that better, safer, more natural solutions can be created. For example, most people believe that illness begins when a germ outside your body somehow runs into you and gets inside. The only solution is to bombard those bugs with a lot of drugs. That one-size-fits-all scenario doesn’t fit all the time, however. How about this. Remember the last time you walked past a dirty dumpster? Every time you see a dirty dumpster what comes to mind: rats, roaches, raccoons and many bugs. These pests always gravitate to the dirty dumpster, not a clean one. Why? It’s likely that the dirty trashcan has the food those pests need to survive. If you took the time to put out a clean trashcan and kept it clean every single day, the vermin and bugs would never show up, because there is nothing to eat there. Simply put, the reason many of us get sick is because our body is a dirty trashcan. For years, we have been taught that sickness starts with germs and bacteria, viruses and any type of micro bacterial invasion. Later, the presence of these bacteria and viruses create illnesses that develop in our bodies. This thought came about in the late 1800s when the world-famous Louis Pasteur developed his germ theory. His whole theory was based on germs attacking the body. Then along came Robert Koch who believed that it was the healthiness of the body-not germs- that determined whether the bacterial virus would show up or could even stay alive in the environment. This concept is very similar to the image of the dirty trashcan. If you keep your trashcan clean, the varmints never show up. If you keep your body healthy and clean, diseases never show up either. So, if you think about it, a healthy body is a clean trashcan.

Soda Makers Use Tobacco Tactics
Obesity rates have been on the rise with current numbers indicating roughly 2 out of every 3 adults and 1 out of every 3 children are either overweight or obese. It’s hugely concerning because is directly responsible for many detrimental health conditions and in turn has devastating effects on healthcare costs. One of the known culprits for the increase in obesity rates is the increased consumption of sugary drinks such as soda. It’s estimated that the average American consumes 56 gallons of sodas each year. And they consume on average 22 teaspoons of sugar daily. The American Heart Association suggests adults should be eating no more than 6-9 teaspoons of sugar daily. Clearly, there is a large discrepancy. So what do the big soda companies think of these efforts to educate the population and battle obesity? Well, similar to the past tactics of big tobacco companies they are not sitting idly by. They have raised their lobbying costs from $8 million in 2007 and 2008 to $60 million in 2009 and 2010. They have also targeted and attempted to cripple local governments by either issuing legal document requests or initiating lawsuits. In early July, the American Beverage Association sued New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for their efforts in reducing local obesity rates. So next time you crack the cool refreshing soda, aside from the negative health effects, just remember you are also supporting a company that feels it is appropriate to pursue our local health agencies for doing the job we hired them to do- Keep Us All Healthy.
Functions of Water in the Body
The human body is made up of 2/3 water. Muscles consists of 75% water. The Brain consists of 90% water. Bone consists of 22% water. And blood consists of 83% water. Pretty amazing huh? Well water has so many important functions in the body. It transports nutrients and oxygen into the cells, moisturizes the air in the lungs, helps with metabolism, protects our vital organs, helps our organs absorb nutrients better, regulates body temperature, detoxifies, and protects and moisturizes our joints. Every cell in your body needs water. Think about this, the brain consists of 90% water right? If you do not get enough water to your body, your brain could not function well and that could result in a headache or migraine. So, the next time you feel fatigue and a headache, it may be a sign of dehydration so try drinking some water to relieve it.
More News About Reaching a Happy, Healthy Age
A study was done to determine what men that were 90 years old or older had in common to try and determine how they had gotten to that age. The results were that the men who functioned the best at that age had made healthy lifestyle choices like: regular exercise, not smoking, and making healthy diet choices. Also, the men who had the best mental well-being, physical functioning, and self-perceived health were those that continued to make these choices even into their old age. So, the bottom line is achieve or maintain a healthy weight, exercise regularly (adults should engage in moderate exercise for one hour a day), eat a healthy diet, and quit or continue to stay away from smoking. And finally make sure your nervous system is functioning properly so your efforts will have the most impact.
The Milk Myth
A recent study claims that young adults are not drinking enough milk…at least according to the press. But the study was actually done on calcium. The words “milk” and “calcium” are often used interchangeably in the popular press. But while milk is a calcium source, no standard other than the National Dairy Council considers it the best calcium source. Yogurt has more calcium than milk and it is easier to digest. Collards and other greens also have about as much or more calcium than milk by the cup, and greens, unlike milk, have the added benefit of vitamin K. Interesting huh?
